Central Florida Sounds of Freedom Band and Color Guard (CFSOF) is proud to announce the appointment of new Artistic Director, Dr. Lindsey Williams. CFSOF is so fortunate to have Dr. Williams share his wealth of musical knowledge and talents with our organization. His experience in teaching and leadership with the local, county, and state public school system will help elevate our band, spread the word of our mission and enrich our LGBTQ+ community on so many different levels. Lindsey Williams is the current K-12 Performing Arts Curriculum Specialist with Seminole County Public Schools and serves as the president of the Florida Music Supervision Association and on the Boards for Florida Music Education Association and the Florida School Music Association. Dr. Williams’ teaching experience includes elementary through senior adults including faculty positions at UMKC, WVU, KSU, and UCF.
A Fulbright Scholar, his research interests include life-long learning, focus of attention, musical complexity, music perception, and music teacher training. He is an active performer, conductor, and clinician for music educators and musicians from youth to senior adults throughout the United States and Southeast. An active researcher, Dr. Williams’s work is published in such journals as International Journal of Music Education, Journal of Research in Music Education, Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, and Journal of Band Research.
He earned his music education degrees from Florida State University (PhD) and the University of Kansas (BME, MME).
